Capital’s Mirpur-Airport Road Flyover has been named after late president M Zillur Rahman.

Honr. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the new name after opening the flyover on
Wednesday (27.03.2013) morning.

Addressing the inaugural programme at Golf Club auditorium, Prime Minister said, “Airport road is an important road of Dhaka city and this flyover will reduce the traffic jam and distance.”

The flyover was opened for vehicular movements in the morning aiming
to reduce nagging traffic jam on Airport Road.

The Tk 199.88-crore structure from Matikata at Dhaka Cantonment to
Airport Road will ease the road communication between east and west
portions of the city.

The length of the flyover is 1.79 kilometers and wide is 15.52 meter.
The flyover, connecting Mirpur with Airport, has four lanes.

User of the flyover will be able to go only a three-kilometer distance
from Mirpur-12 to the airport, in stead of 11-kilometer distance through
in front of Prime Minister’s office.

The dwellers of city’s Mirpur area will be able to reach the airport road within 20 to 25 minutes.

Engineer Construction battalion-16 under Special Works Organisation of
Bangladesh Army complete the work under the project of Roads
