Women’s registration for overseas jobs in April

After a successful selection of workers for Malaysian jobs, the government is now going to launch online registration early next month to choose female workers for jobs in different countries. Considering the demand of domestic workers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle Eastern countries, the government has decided to prepare a database of qualified female workers, says Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain. “We want to register the names of females interested to work as domestic workers, care givers and other professions in different countries,” he said at a press briefing at his ministry office. The interested females in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions will be able to register their names from April 7 to 11 through government’s information service centres at union parishad and ward levels. The registration will take place in Khulna and Chittagong divisions from April 12 to 16 while the females in Dhaka and Barisal divisions will be able to register their names from April 17 to 21. The registration process will begin at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm on the mentioned days. The minimum salary for female workers at Singapore and Hong Kong will be Tk 40,000 while this will be Tk 15,000 in Middle Eastern countries, the minister mentioned. The migration cost for female workers will be between Tk 20,000 and 30,000, he said. Initially, the selected workers need not to bear the cost as the government will finance it though Probashi Kalyan Bank. Later, their loan will be deducted from their monthly salary gradually.
